Known, but still much to explore
In the Netherlands the New Way of Working (NWOW) is a well known phenomenon. There are multiple articles and blogs and even a number of books. This has supported the spread of NWOW and hopefully lead to better implementations.
In the (international) scientific area, the New Way of Working is still a largely undiscovered phenomenon. Luckily – again in the Netherlands – more graduates and universities investigate NWOW in all its facets, be it from the facility point of view, or from the organizational, ICT or human point of view.
In cooperation with Utrecht University, department of Information and Computing Sciences, HQ-consult researches the New Way of Working and the effect on employees and organizations. This multi-year research has already resulted in a number of publications with guidelines helping organizations to determine the most successful approach in the implementation of NWOW.
The results of this research will be published via this website and the thenewewayofworking blog.
Knowledge for the future
For the coming generations of employees it is important that the become familiar with the concepts of NWOW during their education, and be acquainted with the work-ethics that belong to NWOW. One of the spin-off goals of research should therefore always be the flow back of gained knowledge to education e,g, in the form of teaching materials. When we are able to succeed in changing the mindset of future employees, the chance is big that they will work in a different way and that a huge change in the way we work today will take place. The basis for all this is knowledge and the sharing of knowledge for the future.
